Federal response revision

Are George Bush, FEMA, and other Federal employees getting a raw deal? Jack Kelly seems to think so in a article in the Post Gazette. Kelly argues that while the response seemed slow relative to the disaster that ensued after the levee broke, it was still a more rapid response than many recent disasters.

"The federal government pretty much met its standard time lines, but
the volume of support provided during the 72-96 hour was unprecedented.
The federal response here was faster than Hugo, faster than Andrew,
faster than Iniki, faster than Francine and Jeanne."

Interesting. This may be a slightly rosy view of the desperate situation we have, but Kelly may have a point. Perhaps we should fix the problem first, then worry about scoring political capital.
