Two items of interest

I was going to go for an all-out linkfest, but I think I’ll stick to these two for the moment:

This article from Scientific American discusses a study done recently on using nanoparticles to fight prostate cancer in mice.  Apparently, the particles did an amazing job, and with the help of targeting particles, were able to wipe out or significantly reduce the tumor size in all the mice tested.  Anything that looks like it would have a large impact on cancer is good news to me.

Erin O’Connor at Critical Mass links to an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education and talks about the impact of false self esteem on students’ approach to learning.  Interesting, to say the least.
