Customer Sabotage

Stephen Dubner notes some petty behavior by retail customers (hiding or turning around copies of a book by an author they don’t like) and wonders how widespread the phenomenon is. I’ve certainly heard of similar things (including non-fiction books people don’t like being moved to the fiction section and similar shenanigans), and I too would be interested to know how commonly this sort of thing occurs and what reasons the perpetrators would give for their actions.
